Steve Rowe

Senior Software Engineer
Steve considers working with computers an exploration of the collective subconscious — or, rather, part of the ever-broadening reach of consciousness in its quest for self-awareness. In his spare time, he likes to read about physics.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Native Instinct, Flash is Steve’s canvas, Actionscript his brush. He has been using these and other materials to design and develop user interfaces since the early ’90s, beginning with multimedia kiosks and CD-ROMs and later moving into Web development. He has programmed applications for the design and manufacture of paragliders and traction kites, which have been used to create some of the best paragliders on the market today, and worked on applications for companies that include Acura Interactive, Apple, and Epson America. In all his work, his goal is to bridge the gap between programming and design, technology and creativity, user and computer. At Native Instinct, Steve has played an instrumental role in projects for Salesforce.com and Wells Fargo.

A native of Cleveland, Steve’s first startup was Perspektive AG, in the Swiss Alps. While in Switzerland, he established himself not simply as a gifted programmer but as an international-caliber Ultimate player, participating in the 1993 European Championships with the Swiss team and the 1995 World Club Championships in Vancouver, Canada, with Bern’s notorious Flying Angels.
