Frank Marquardt

Director, Content Strategy
Frank’s professional writing career commenced at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, where he was a newswriting fellow in the early 1990s, and he’s been strategizing ever since about how to effectively communicate information and ideas.

Following the Poynter Institute, Frank freelanced for various alternative weeklies and spent a few lost years at a pair of experimental literary publishers before turning his attention to the world of business. As Managing Editor at WetFeet, a career information source, he oversaw dozens of writers and editors and thousands of pages of content syndicated to sites across the Web. As Executive Editor at SustainLane, he co-developed The Unsustainables, an animated series that aired on Comcast’s Green Scene. As an independent consultant, Frank has focused on Web content strategy, technology, workplace issues, and sustainability. His projects have included evaluating companies for Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list, writing online and print content for companies that include HP and Palm, and authoring WetFeet’s Insider Guide to Green Careers. At Native Instinct, Frank has worked on projects for Cytel, Walmart.com, and Wells Fargo.

Frank is a Sacramento native and has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Reed College and a master’s in English from Illinois State, where he studied fiction writing with the late David Foster Wallace.
