David Fortner

Technology Director
David’s point-guard skills go well beyond the basketball court. As Native Instinct’s Director of Web Development, he remains constantly engaged with its team of developers, dishing and assembling code as if on a never-ending fastbreak (or at least it often seems that way).

With more than 15 years experience in interactive media development and more than a decade in Web and video production, David is a grizzled veteran, with the beard to prove it. He has created dynamic online identities for businesses across the country as a lead developer responsible for work product, delivery approach, and concept actualization, combining strong technical skills in HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and PHP with long-term leadership experience managing teams of graphic designers, developers, and content editors to improve client results.

David has worked individually and played key roles on teams developing Rich Internet Applications, Web sites, and video for Adobe Systems, Home Depot, Salesforce.com, Gymboree, and numerous mid-sized companies. David’s work in interactive media began at Sandia National Laboratory, where he created CD-ROMs as well as multimedia kiosks that were featured in the San Jose Tech Museum. He left Sandia in 1997 to co-found Coastline Design, an innovative media solutions company that specializes in development, marketing, and video production.

A graduate of UC San Diego and native of Livermore, California, David’s favorite after-work activities include poker and playing with his son, Wyatt.
